Family pleads for help finding shooting suspect
Family members of two sisters who were shot in a Fort Lauderdale street, one of whom died, asked the public for help Friday in finding the man accused of the shootings.
An arrest warrant was issued this week for Burnie Reed, 19. Police said he and his ex-girlfriend, Chutney McNair, 19, who is pregnant with his child, got into a fight in the roadway in the 1100 block of Northwest 11th Street on Saturday night.
When McNair's 21-year-old sister, Bianca McNair, tried to intervene, Fort Lauderdale police said, Reed shot her in the head. Her sister tried to run away, and Reed chased her down and shot her in the head, too, police said.
Bianca McNair was pronounced dead at Broward General Medical Center. Chutney McNair was treated and released from the hospital.
On Friday, their family members made a plea for information in finding Reed.
Trevor Goodrum, the McNairs' uncle, said Bianca was the oldest grandchild in her family.
"(She) was attending college and basically doing what all young people do, just doing her thing and trying to get her life in order," Goodrum said. "It was just a cowardly act by an individual who had nothing going on, nothing going for himself, and unfortunately, he wants to keep everybody where he is. Let's apprehend this guy as soon as possible."
Bianca and Chutney McNair's parents each had messages for Reed.

"Listen, Burnie. On behalf of Bianca and Chutney’s mom, you don’t know what you’ve done to me," said Bianca and Chutney McNair's mother, Karen McNair. "You’ve ruined my whole life, and you’ve got to pay for what you’ve done. You took my baby from me, Bianca. You tried to take Chutney’s life, and you tried to take me out, too. You must pay for this."
"I just want to say that my daughter was a good person, and the action you took, you must suffer for it," said Bianca and Chutney's father, Leroy McNair.
Goodrum said the family plans to get some counseling to deal with Bianca McNair's loss.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
